Authentication & Verification Policy

Before an item is offered for sale, Luxurywish evaluates the information and characteristics available for that particular piece. This may include craftsmanship, materials, stitching, hardware, engravings, stamps, serial or date identifiers, typography, construction, proportions, packaging, accessories, and other brand-specific characteristics.

Authentication requirements are not identical for every item. A vintage Chanel bag, for example, may require a different set of photographs and identifying details from a contemporary Hermès bag.

Where appropriate, detailed photographs or other required information are submitted to an independent authentication provider for professional assessment.

No single stamp, serial number, receipt, box, dust bag, or accessory is treated by Luxurywish as sufficient proof of authenticity on its own.

An independent authentication certificate documents the professional opinion reached by the authentication provider based on the item and information submitted for examination.

A certificate relates only to the specific item evaluated. It does not authenticate another item simply because it has the same model, color, date stamp, serial number format, packaging, or other similar characteristics.

Certificates should also not be interpreted as certificates issued by the original luxury brand unless expressly issued by that brand.

Different authentication providers specialize in different brands and categories, and authentication requirements may differ according to the item.

The absence of a certificate from one particular provider does not, by itself, indicate that an item has not undergone Luxurywish’s applicable verification process.

Where a third-party certificate accompanies a particular item, this may be indicated in the product listing or provided with the purchase where applicable.

Original receipts, boxes, dust bags, authenticity cards, booklets, ribbons, tags, packaging, and other accessories can provide useful supporting information, but they are not treated as proof of authenticity on their own.

Accessories and documentation can become separated from an item over time, particularly in the pre-owned market.

For this reason, Luxurywish evaluates the item itself, rather than relying solely on its accompanying inclusions.

Serial numbers, date stamps, holograms, authenticity cards, microchips, date codes, and similar identifiers may form part of an authentication assessment where applicable.

However, the presence of an apparently correct identifier does not independently establish authenticity.

Counterfeit items may reproduce identifying details. Authentication therefore considers the piece as a whole and not simply whether a particular number or stamp appears correct.

This is also why our Stamp & Series Guides are educational tools for understanding production periods and should not be used independently to determine authenticity.

Age alone does not determine authenticity or condition.

Vintage and pre-owned pieces naturally vary depending on their age, use, storage, previous ownership, and maintenance history.

Authenticity assessment and condition assessment are therefore treated separately.

An authentic vintage item may show significant wear and still be authentic. Likewise, an item appearing unused or exceptionally well preserved is not automatically authentic based on its condition.

An authentic luxury item may have undergone cleaning, repair, recoloring, restoration, reinforcement, polishing, or replacement of certain components during its lifetime.

Where such information is known to Luxurywish and considered material to the purchase, we aim to disclose it in the listing.

However, particularly with older pre-owned pieces, the complete service and ownership history may not always be known or independently verifiable.

Authentication of the underlying item should therefore not automatically be interpreted as confirmation that every component is original to the item or that the piece has never undergone repair or restoration, unless specifically stated.

Contact Luxurywish and provide your original order details together with the reason for your concern and any supporting documentation available.

We may request photographs, certificates, identifying details, transaction records, or the physical item itself.

Where necessary, the item may be submitted for independent professional re-authentication.

Please do not dispose of, dismantle, materially alter, or surrender the item to another party while an authenticity review is ongoing.

Authentication involves professional assessment, and conflicting opinions can occasionally occur.

A single conflicting opinion will therefore trigger further review rather than an automatic conclusion.

Luxurywish may obtain an additional assessment from an independent specialist appropriate to the brand and item concerned.

We will consider the available professional findings and the identifying information of the original piece before reaching a final determination.

The Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee relates specifically to authenticity.

It is not a lifetime return, exchange, condition, repair, price, or resale-value guarantee.

It does not cover a change of mind, normal wear, condition differences already disclosed at the time of purchase, changes in market value, resale performance, personal preference, or dissatisfaction unrelated to authenticity.

The guarantee also does not mean Luxurywish guarantees that every component of a vintage or pre-owned item has never been professionally repaired or replaced unless expressly represented as such.

To make a claim under the Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee, Luxurywish must be able to reasonably establish that the item submitted for review is the same item originally sold by Luxurywish.

We may compare the item against photographs, serial or date information, stamps, distinctive characteristics, authentication records, transaction records, and other documentation retained in connection with the original sale.

This protects both our clients and Luxurywish against substitution or mistaken identification.

Third-party authenticators are independent businesses.

The use or mention of bababebi, Zeko Authentication, LegitGrails, or another authentication provider does not imply that Luxurywish owns, controls, or operates that service.

Likewise, unless expressly stated by the relevant luxury house, neither Luxurywish nor an independent authenticator should be understood as acting on behalf of Hermès, Chanel, or any other brand.

All trademarks and brand names remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and descriptive purposes.
